And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the Lord…set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off. Joshua 3:13
Persistence means that we keep going no matter how hard it is to make progress. It means that we won’t quit no matter how much we want to. Everyone who has ever done anything important had to learn to be persistent. Christopher Columbus was persistent in his struggle to get money to fund his voyage to the new world. Later when he was sailing over the sea, he had to be persistent when his sailors wanted to turn back. Marie Curie was persistent in the scientific experiments that earned her two Nobel prizes, even though those experiments would eventually cause her death.
In our lives we have to be persistent. We must keep doing what we do, even if our progress is very slow. So if you are praying for something and haven’t seen an answer yet, keep praying—you are making progress even if you can’t see it. If you are trying to achieve something like better grades but getting better grades seems slow to come, keep going. Everyday you are learning something important and if you don’t quit, you will see success.
Dear Lord, Help me never to give up, no matter what. Amen.
