We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.
A basketball game is not won until the last ball goes in the basket before the closing buzzer. A football game is not won until the last play of the last quarter is complete—and it could be a touchdown. The winner of a hockey game might not be determined until a shoot out after two extra periods of play.
Our Christian life might be a little like a game. Our start on the Christian walk may be kind of slow. We might not get everything right at the beginning.
Just like new players in a game have to learn how to play, so believers have to learn how to live our lives as followers of Christ. We learn to hang on in tough times. We learn to trust God with every detail. We learn to turn to him with our problems and needs. The goal is to finish well, ending the game with as much enthusiasm and focus as we started with. And when we come to the end of our life, we will be winners. We will be triumphant with Christ.
Dear Lord, Sometimes it seems progress is so slow. Help me to keep on playing the game of life until the end. Amen.
